See you there!
We’re very pleased to have worked with our dear local co-op, the Alberta Cooperative Grocery — one of the reasons we moved to our neighborhood — to design their shiny new website.
Thanks Anni & Matthaus for working with us, and for the shout out on your News page!

The YWCA of Greater Portland hosted its 18th Annual Leadership Luncheon fundraising event today at the Oregon Convention Center. It was a record turnout with 1300 participants.
Helsinqi participated as a Presenting Sponsor. Our Lives Changed campaign was in evidence, with nice big postures we produced, created from client interviews conducted by Anna Daedalus, photographs by our friend Kathryn Elsesser, and design by Leo Daedalus.
Our print programs spread the YWCA message, with design by Laurie Hotovy and creative direction by Anna and Leo. And our interactive Fortune Teller folded print pieces graced the tables, designed by Anna and Leo.
Helsinqi also provided a Lives Changed slide show, and we were gratified to have kibitzed with videographer Carol Koon on the Lives Changed video she produced.
Thanks to the YWCA of Greater Portland for involving us, and thanks to our sponsorship table guests for turning out to support this hardworking organization!

Our friends & clients Fear No Music 21st-century classical ensemble perform the 3rd concert of their 18th season tonight in Portland. The concert, entitled Memoirs, features the works of Golijov, Dutilleux, Lou Harrison, and Elvis Costello, and includes guest vocalists Timothy Nishimoto of Pink Martini and Stephen Marc Beaudoin.
This is Helsinqi’s 3rd season as FNM’s design sponsor, and our 8th print program for them. The Memoirs cover features a detail from a photo Anna took in our hotel room in Casablanca in 2000, set against a ground of ink drips.
Mirrors, reflection, windows, ink, writing, and our own memories mingle in what we hope to be an apropos visual complement to tonight’s music. See the larger cover here.
Big thanks to Isabel Cattadoris our friend & intern who did a lovely job designing and laying out the program interior. See the program as a 3.4MB PDF here.
See complete concert information on the Fear No Music site.

Special Thanks to Brandon Sprague for his advance writing.
Our dear friend Carole Zoom has done it again! She has built a new home for artists & nonprofits, this time in Portland (the last was in Eugene). At Zoomtopia, “affordable pricing and lease-to-own terms enable artists and nonprofits to find a stable home while building social and financial equity.”
Carole asked Helsinqi for help with a big, last-minute PR blast (press release here). We obliged, and we’d like to think we had something to do with the teeming masses who crammed into the building on January 28th for the dedication by Sam Adams and all the other good stuff that went down.
Check out the postcard and poster designs:

Thanks to Gabe for incorporating Michael Welch’s graphic on the Zoomtopia website masthead.

The YWCA of Greater Portland has engaged HELSINQI as their agency of record. We’re very glad to be working for such a great cause — with such great people!
This is a great opportunity for us as a values-driven, triple-bottom-line business to connect meaningfully with the community. It also brings Anna full circle, back to her days of social work in Portland in the 90s, when she ran a program for latina survivors of domestic violence. At the time, she surely had no idea how the insights she brought out of that experience would come to serve her — and our clients — as co-director of an integrity marketing agency!

Our friends & clients Fear No Music 21st-century classical ensemble perform the 1st concert of their 18th season tonight in Portland. The concert, entitled Homage, features Nymphéa, by one of the great contemporary composers, Kaija Saariaho, who happens to be a Finn. Tosi hyvä!
The concert also features Charles Ives, Elliott Carter, George Crumb, Stephen Hartke, and Michael Daugherty. An evening not to miss.
Because the Homage concert has a distinctly nocturnal tone, our cover takes a lunatic turn with a slice of blue moon. Good stuff to put us all in the mood for Hallowe’en…
See the complete print program here, and get full concert information on the Fear No Music site.
